RASC News

Minutes of the November Meeting - Reported by Mark Nolte
Meeting called to order by President Vince Plancich at 7:55PM.
Minutes of the October meeting were approved as printed in the Wishbone Alley Gazette.
Sales of T-shirts affect this. The $80 paid to NWRC for No Alibi will not be refunded, but applied to a future event.

Old Business:
Gretchen Jones reported that 5 entries were in hand at the time No Alibi was postponed. Response to the postponement was positive, in that it was better not to go ahead and put on a badly attended event. Gretchen was able to notify everybody of the situation.

Mark Nolte explained the current situation with Simpson, and why the Club Rallys were canceled. This amount to a brand new forest management plan to preserve salmon habitat implemented after road use permits were approved. Simply stated, Simpson doesn¹t want muddy runoff water into the creeks, so won¹t let the rally's run during the rainy season.

Terry Simons read the minutes of the SCCA-NWR rallygroup meeting. Among the items covered was the Rally awards banquet location, which may be at the Mason County Fairgrounds (not South Sound Community College). The Rallygroup has also "adopted" a section of I-5 south of Tumwater, to clean and pickup litter.

Pete Shelton reported that he would participate in the go-cart competition; Carl Hillman is unavailable on the designated weekend, since he¹ll be an entrant at the go-cart racing championship!

Elections: It took two ballots, but the 2000 RASC Board members will be: Dave Folker, Jerry Hines, Ed Millman, and Pete Shelton. Vince Plancich and Terry Simons carryover from 1999.
New Business:
Gretchen Jones requested the new Board to set a direction for the club. This was followed by brief discussion of the Club Rally situation, diminished club membership, lack of participation in local rally's, etc.

Jerry Hines reported that he has 31 entrants for the Alcan, with new ones coming in and a few getting out. He is investigating shipping/ferrying the rally cars home after the rally.

Jerry and John Fouse have run the south third of the route, with Jim and Cristy Breazeale setting up the "top" 2/3.

Jerry also announced that Mark Qvale is selling his ¹87 Saab GL. Jim Elder has secured a Chinook 4x4 for rally use.

Gretchen inquired about "doing" go-carts at one of the 2 Tukwila venues.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm.

The Nominates for the 2000 Board of Directors were: Kirk Simons, Mark Nolte, Dave Folker, Jerry Hines, Ed Millman, Pete Shelton, Mike Jones, Gretchen Jones, and Jarvis Ownes.

Go-cart Racing Championship
We had 3 Member (Pete Shelton, Joel Wright and Kirk Simons) from Rainier show up to participate in the Go-cart Challenge in Mukilteo on November 20.  Since we only had 3 competitor the organizations took the worst score and added it twice more to make up for the two missing competitors.  Even with this handicap we finished second overall.  Pete Shelton won the second run.  Congratulation Pete.
