Nor'wester Auto Rally, 1968Date: July 12-14, 1968 Start Location: Bellevue Square Shopping Center, Bellevue, WA Rallymaster: Jack Deno Entry Fee: $25 Winners: Equipped - Bob and Marj Kraushaar of Milwaukie, Oregon. Won in a Datsun, accumulating error of 00:01:17 over 925 miles and 27 controls. Unequipped Class - Sandra Ryan Musgrove and Jovita Cokee of Seattle, Washington, driving a Chevy Camaro. Summary: The second year for the Nor'wester again saw a 1,000 mile course in two and half days of fast rallying. Local support grew, car club newsletters began to promote the event, and some local newspapers picked up the story. The prize fund grew to $500 and the entry increased to 38. The three day event started and finished in Bellevue, WA at the Bel Square Shopping Center. Both Friday and Saturday nights were spent at Crystal Mountain. The route traversed Cayuse, Chinook, White and several other lesser known passes. |
