Entitled simply "A Friday Nite Rally" for lack of inspiration the course was also quite simple and relatively trap free. The odometer check transit departed Eastgate Park and Ride, followed I-90 East to the Sunset exit and up over the Issaquah highlands. The highlands are growing but they haven't yet inflated the "quant business district" portion of their Town In A Box kit so this is a nice detour around the heavy traffic of the business district at the foot of the hill. The transit continued to end west of Beaver Lake. The first leg was a shorty of only 3.11 miles around Beaver Lake ending with a checkpoint in a quiet space between residential areas.
Leg two got things moving putting competitors on one of the rare bits of fun roads left, the tail end of Issaquah Fall City Road from Duthie Hill Road in to Fall City. Turning north out of Fall City checkpoint two was found on West Snoqualmie Valley Road which was happily not under water this week. The third leg was a long one at just over 51 minutes and 28.4 miles. It cruised through Carnation and up Fay Road onto the hills behind Duvall. This is still a nice area except for the painfully slow 25MPH speed limit in places. The route looped back down north of Duvall, continued north on highway 203 to another quick loop up High Rock Road and back down. Leg three concluded with a trapped loop around Tualco Loop Road to the final checkpoint at the now abandonded State Corrections Farm on 203rd. A quick cool-down transit to Monroe brought everyone in to Alfy's Pizza at a respectable hour.
Overall the route was 57.91 miles and 1:52. There were 24 competitors, 23 finishers.
